Just checked out Daniels ever growing web site and his newest addition is the Kelleners exhaust. For anyone who wants loud........ and I mean loud NASCAR type loud exhaust tones, check out the video/audio clips on the Kelleners page. Nice job by Beast Power. My all time favorite video clip (it's been around for a while) is video clip # 4. Watch that video clip, it says it all! When you hear the car with Kelleners exhaust and the Super Sprint X-Pipe, good god, look out man!!! The highlight of this particular clip is when you hear a few grown adult men giggling and cracking up like little school boys would, there amusement with the Kelleners and X-Pipe is the endorsement for those two products, when combined together. I had this setup until this week, but my X-Pipe is being removed in order to do the Dinan S2 package installation. I want to cry over losing the X-Pipe. :crying:
Hey Daniel, whats your take on the whole S2 package and not being allowed to use the X-Pipe as being part of the S2 package system???
I spoke with PAUL S. yesterday and he mentioned your name, when discussing the S2 system. Do you have the OEM resonators? How much quieter will my exhaust system be with the S2 package, stock resonators and Kelleners exhaust cans???
Thanks Daniel.
Robert
I beleive BeastPower has had the Kellners exhaust listed for some time now, nothing new there.
Your car should still be loud, because of the addition of the headers with the Kellners exhaust. The CAI and AFM's should also add some intake noise, which will be nice.
I would like to add my thoughts about the Kellners exhaust, and what I feel to be a common misconseption. Kellners alone (w/o X-pipe or headers) is actually not that loud. Sure, its pretty rough and has some growl to it, but it won't make you wince or anything. Inside the cabin, it's relatively tame yet is definetly present. Also, the sound is fabulous and decently refined and classy, not to the extent of Tubi, but those are two different exhausts. Bottom line, don't be scared away with the wrong understanding.

Travis, I agree with you on the xpipe/kelleners configuration. It is not the bad boy, trailer park kinda application that it is sometimes made out to be in my opinion. It is loud, but not offensive. Great low end rumble and screams up high. Again, it is such a subjective thing tho. that's why they make so many different kinds.
Robert,
I bet your new ride will be awesome. keep us posted on the progress.

We have been selling the Kelleners for a while now. My S2 M5 has the Tubi cat-back exhaust, and it goes like it is on steroids. Your exhaust will be quieter without the X-pipe, but your performance will be improved. You may want to seriously consider replacing your stock resonators with the newloy available Tubi X-Pipe. This should provide you with the best of both worlds, increased sound and improved performance.
Can a customer simply purcase the Tubi X-Pipe without getting the entire exhaust setup/system??? I checked your site and it doesn't show the Tubi X-Pipe anywhere but it can be seen if you view the Tubi exhaust cans. Please let me know, okay.
Thanks a lot!

Well stated, Travis.
I have the Kelleners exhaust (it was installed at the factory) and am very pleased with it. My car doesn't have the x-piper or headers.
It just has a great tone, with enough volume to turn heads under acceleration or at speed. There is no booming in the cabin, and even a 12-hour drive is comfortable. It's very much in keeping with the character of the M5.
Huge difference. The Tubi is a full resonator replacement, while the Supersprint X-pipe is just that a couple of pipes welded into an X. Here is a photo of the Supersprint X-pipe for comparison:
What is the theory behind the Tubi resonators? Why are they there, how do they help the engine as compared to straight pipes? Do the Tubi resonators have baffles in them or do they just provide expansion space for the exhaust gases?
Are these Tubi resonators there to just tune the sound - like the difference in the length of pipes for a pipe organ?
It would be interesting to see a dyno comparison of a single M5 with these various exhaust configurations to back up any conclusions on this issue.

Great PIC Daniel. I do want to ask you, how are the TUBI resonators any different than the stock OEM resonators when it comes to its function & performance???
TIA.
Yes, you have read me correctly, my experience has shown that the X-pipe is too free-flowing. The Tubi X-pipe still incorporates resonators, but uses ones that are more free-flowing than the stock ones (free, but not too free ). I have experienced the negative effects of having an exhaust be too free-flowing both on my M5, and on a Corvette C4 LT4 that I once owned.
The Supersprint X-pipe add to the sound, but not to the performance IMO.

That's what I experienced on my M5 when it had the Supersprint X-pipe and Eisenmann Race Exhuaust (same as Kelleners). I noticed a significant improvement in performance when switching over to the Tubi.
Also, if I recall correctly, someone claimed that the Kelleners reduced performance by 1HP. I don't have this data handy, but a search on this board may pull up something.
Does the xpipe add a little performance to stock back boxes ? Maybe I could do a deal with a member looking for a noise power increase with stock back boxes ?
I'll let you know what the car delivers next week !
Huummm..... Here's Dinan opinion on the X-Pipe and Kelleners exhaust........
Dinan seems to think that the lose of power is directly attributed to the Super Sprint X-Pipe, since it is way too free flowing over the stock resonator, when used with their S2 package system. In addition to this, Dinan also feels that the Kelleners cans by itself probably will not hurt the S2 package, unlike the S.S. X-Pipe. For this reason, Dinan will allow me to keep my Kelleners exhaust cans and be part of the S2 package. They however are adament about NOT allowing the customer have the X-Pipe with the Dinan system, since the X-Pipe reduced power from the S2 package.
Robert :confused3
That is interesting, losing power with a reduced back pressure that far back in the system is very unusual. I wonder if it lost a little bottom end and picked up some but not enough to compensate at the top end with the S2 package.
