I loaded the servotronic tune, Following all the procedures, had charger connected to car and laptop, but after the load the car will not attempt to start. I reconnected the programmer and tried to read the ecu codes but got a connection error.

I don't have my GT1 at the garage at the moment to try and see if There are other errors or EWS sync problem, so hoping the evolve guys can help get the car running again.

yes try winkfpt first and flash it back to stock. you may have to do a battery reset or manually power up the dme is the main relay isnt closing. worst case scenario i have a guy who you can send the dme to who will wipe it clean/virginize it and load whatever sw you want on it. he gets about $150 to do the service.

questions, how many times has the dme been flashed?

what tune were you loading? the servotronic tweak from evolve?

Having problems getting WinKFP working properly(driver problems with my VM), but will definitely try that route once I get it up and running. I have not heard back from Evolve, hope to hear something tomorrow.

I already had Evolve's Alpha N tune on the ECU and was installing the servotronic tweak. It has not been flashed many times, so no concern about hitting the counter max

I hope you get this sorted. It's a nightmare when something electronic decides it's screw you day.

If you've emailed Evolve in the UK they should reply on Tuesday. It's been a national holiday in the UK on Monday so they will likely have been closed.

ITS ALIVE!!! What a process.

Step 1: I finally got the VM working correctly and reconfigured WinKFP with the correct Daten files.

Step 2: I tried the easier "Update ZUSB" but that failed as it couldn't read the existing ZUSB on the DME.

Step 3: I took the "Choose ZUSB" to force a program and picked the last MDS52 ZUSB in the list (7843313) It was nice to see it also matched my DME hardware number. Hit program and got an error message stating it could not communicate with DME. I just about had enough at that point and when I went to pull the connector out of the OBD port I noticed it had gotten bumped and wasn't connected :shakemitkopf:

Step 4: Pushed cable back in hit program and got the UIF warning message that I only have 12 writes left (could have sworn I had more left). Finished the program and started the car.

Step 5: Thank everyone on the board. I definitely needed the push to get WinKFP working again and try that route.:thankyou:

Step 6: Contact Evolve and get the Alpha N tune back on and pray it goes well.

the 13 flash limit is only for bmw tools ie winkfpt/progman. these dmes can usually be flashed 20-30 times before they lock up. also if you go into the options menu in winkfpt and un tick the box "write uif after programming" the flash counter wont move. now jim conforti told me years ago that its not a good idea to do that and explained why but i dont remember his answer. i have however done it many times with no issues.

Not out of the woods yet. I talked with Evolve who asked to get a new ECU memory read. When I started that process, it outright failed to read the ECU when I attempted to read "calibrations only". I tried a full read which started, but then failed multiple times on address: 00903FC0. Unfortunately I only have the BM Cables interface cable at the moment so can't use BMWFlash to try and read the ECU that way to see what is going on at that address, but is seems there is potentially a EEPROM issue.

Now I also haven't driven the car (other than in the driveway) so don't know if there are any issues throughout the RMP range, so need to also do that to see if there is any peculiar behavior.

Drove the car and there is definitely a problem with WOT. The car drives fine with part throttle, but bucks violently when WOT. I can definitely try the battery reset, but am thinking that another WINKFP flash is in order before more drastic efforts. I am currently going through the pages and pages of MSS52 & MSS54 comprehensive guides.
