GEAR LASH???

could someone try to explain this sound please? i just got my car back after a clutch a lightweight flywheel install. the sound i hear definitly doesn't sound right.

At idle you will hear a chattering. That is the easiest way to describe it.

I fitted a lightened flywheel to my previous car (E36 M3) and, whilst it afforded markedly improved throttle response, I absolutely hated the chatter.

Clattering might be a better word. It sounds like hell under no-load, but that's the price you pay for a really lightweight flywheel. Under load the sound should go away.

There is also the possibility that the noise will be present while cruising at a steady speed on a flat highway, but most likely not as severe as at a stop light.

IMHO , not a very good mod for a luxury sedan.

thanks guys. that is 100% what i hear... this new clutch grabs so beautifully i'll deal with the ''chatter''. i finally feel i have a 400hp car...
