Dinan / Clutch

Is Dinan still around? I've been trying to visit their site ( www.dinanbmw.com ) and it has been down. My 2nd clutch is starting to slip and I thought I'd explore my options. Thanks.

Re: Dinan / Clutch

Anyone have experience with their clutches? Any other companies make good clutches? Thanks.

Re: Dinan / Clutch

i dont believe that dinan offers clutches..just flywheels.

Clutch masters and UUC are the only ones that i know of that have sucessfully done a m5 clutch.

Re: Dinan / Clutch

You need an oversize clutch like the one sold by UUC. Most companies sell a tiny clutch to fit the stock flywheel.

The stock 400 HP M5 clutch is 9-5/8". A 200HP Camaro has an 11" clutch. A 225 HP Mustang has a 10.5" clutch. Ponycars have adequate clutches, so it's a no-brainer. Root cause of failure is BMW engrs had brain fade.

You might try the search function....dozens of good threads about E39 clutches.

You need to stay with the stock flywheel if you want to completely avoid transmission rattle with the Getrag 6-speed and the factory lube.
