I'm not feeling very happy right now....
Ok I just got my car back from the dealer.
The following was a list of things I told them to look at.
1. Tire Defect message comes up every so often.
2. The passenger side grab handle doesn't slowly go up anymore.
3. A lot of vibration is coming from the rear of the car when I'm listening to a song with a lot of bass.
4. My two front seats sound like crap when they are being adjusted. They sound like they are struggling, as if the motors in the seats are going.
5. Finally, the biggest problem of them all, is that my engine is starting to sound like a hunk of junk. There is a continuous sound, with every revolution of the engine, no matter how warm or cold the temperature of the engine is.
Now, lets go ahead to the solutions to these problems.
1. Tire Defect message comes from low tread. I figured that.
2. They ordered new grab handle.
3. They ordered new subwoofers. I truly don't believe this is the problem. When I press down on the spot where the 3rd brake light is, the vibration is gone. Maybe something needs tightened?
4. They say the seats are fine. If they are fine, then why do they make a sound that sounds like complete crap? It sounds like the seats are going to die.
5. They ran the car for 5 minutes at 2500rpm. They have told me that the engine sounds normal.
I am pissed off. A lot.
Let's start off with this. The motor should not be making this sort of noise. You don't pay $70,000 for complete **** service. Second, the seats shouldn't be making this kind of sound. No other seats sound like this. My mom's 96 Grand Caravan sounds better. So does my dad's 740i, with both over 120,000 miles.
And now I will explain why I'm REALLY mad. When I gave them my car, the odometer said 22,643 miles. How much did I get it back with? 22,667 miles. Thats 24 miles extra, that some chump from the dealership enjoyed.. Where could they have gone for 24 miles? Surely, running the car at 2500rpm for 5 minutes will not take you 24 miles away. Also, all my mirrors were at different spots, and my seat was really far back, like, really far...
They better be ready Monday morning, I'm calling them ....Just because I'm young, doesn't mean I'm stupid. Just because I'm young, doesn't mean I can't talk to some idiots who think they are God's gift to the automobile world. The funny thing is that on the invoice, mileage in said 22,643 miles and mileage out said 22,645. I'd LOVE to find out who drove my car. I don't think I'll be using this place for service again. And I had so many good things to say about them before this.

Re: I'm not feeling very happy right now....
Okay, maybe I'm being a little anal about this whole situation, maybe I'm not. But when you take the car to a place you trust, you don't expect them to go on a joyride for 24 miles. Those are 24 miles I could have enjoyed myself. That's gas wasted, and not by me.
Maybe I'm going a little overboard about this? I don't know. Not to mention, the big problems were not diagnosed and will not be fixed

Re: I'm not feeling very happy right now....
You should be upset. And you are right about them POSSIBLY taking you lightly because you are young. But, if you approach them Monday (in person) and politely ask to see the SERVICE MANAGER, then conduct yourself in a very FIRM but calm & businesslike manner, you should make quite an impression and they will realize you aer to be taken seriouly REGARDLESS of your age!
I hope this suggestion helps. I'm anxious to hear how your meeting Monday turns out...Keep us informed!
Unfortunately, one more confirmation for the oft-used term "Stealership"

I agree. They needed a test drive to verify problems, but 24 miles is excessive.

Re: I'm not feeling very happy right now....
For the record, I don't think that your anal, you have the right to expect top quailty service when you buy such an expensive vehicle.
I sold Toyota's for 3 years, and they offer the Toyota LandCruiser which has a sticker price of $60,000. We only sold maybe 3 per year because the customers that could afford to buy the vehicle did not because they wanted the service to come with it. They didn't want to bring a $60,000 car to service and be treated like they bought a Toyota Corolla.
I am starting to get a little disappointed in BMW service. My buddy purchased a Mercades-Benz S500 Sport from a used car lot, Takes the car to Mercades-Benz for service and hes treated like a king.

Chapman BMW of Scottsdale
I have experienced many problems at my local dealer, BMW of Scottsdale. My problems are not as serious as yours. You should talk to the Service manager. I have taken my M5 to BMW of Scottsdale and had horrible service. I recently took my M5 there to have my AC fixed. Well, I guess they needed to drive 14 miles, Why would you have to drive 14 miles to fix the AC? They also left two wrenches on the passenger floor. Thats weak. They refused to store my car indoors overnight because there were "too many" cars. Those are just some of the small things that upset me. I filed a complaint with BMW of North America. The dealer doesnt respond to anything I say, so I thought I would go a step above them. Well, they admitted my problems were serious, but I havent been contacted since then. I guess there are just those BMW service centers / dealers that are terrible. Anyone who reads this...DO NOT GO TO CHAPMAN BMW OF SCOTTSDALE on Mcdowell. Send me a private message, and I can give you twenty reasons why NOT to go there.

Re: I'm not feeling very happy right now....
you have every right to be pissed. just wondering, how come you didn't confront right away when you picked up the car? might be hard to convince they added 24mi if their paperwork only showed 2mi difference.
i went thru the same anger before. ok, nowhere near as bad as 24mi but my dealer tacked on 2mi on my car. the car was only in for a wood trim center console replacement and yet they drove it for 2mi? there was no reason for them to test drive the car for the workorder that it came in for.
maybe next time i come in for a service, i'll write the mileage down on a note pad and stick it on the dashboard. that way they're aware that i'm keeping track.
if only the OBC stores things like drifting, donuts, burnouts, etc...

Re: I'm not feeling very happy right now....
Thanks guys for all the support with this matter. Good to know that I'm not alone when it comes to this weak kind of service, but on the flipside, it's not good to know that this happens oh so often, especially to my M5 brethren.
The reason I didn't confront them immediately is because when I picked the car up, they were closed. I never expected for them to drive so many miles...IN MY CAR. Shouldn't they have loaner cars that they can drive around? Noooo, they want to drive the M5. And probably, they beat the living piss out of it for 24 miles. The more I think about it, the more upset I get. This kind of behavior, at a car dealership, let's not mention it being BMW, should not happen. The bad part is, I have no proof that they drove it that much, but I will bring it to their attention. And if they deny me, I'll tell them to no longer expect me for service. There's 4 other dealers in the area. I'd be more than happy to give those guys a try. And maybe they can actually DIAGNOSE the problems in my car, rather than writing on the invoice "System is operating to manufacturer's specifications."
Like the wrenches in your car Wake Champ, there was something left in mine. Some kind of thick card that said "HID Corporation" I'm going to be bringing that with me on Monday. Also, the middle headrest was in my backseat, as well the tripod that I keep in my trunk. The least they could have done is put them where they were last seen.
UGH!!!
Frusturated and angry,
Jajo

Re: I'm not feeling very happy right now....
To add on, I'm going to ask to adjust the seats in a 5 series they may have, and see if the struggling sound is present.
I think there is also another M5 there. Let's see if their engine makes the same noise mine makes. Let's see if it's "Oh, that's normal"
I can't believe this.

Jajo, I hope your dealership makes things right for you. If not, promptly proceed to the other 4 dealerships, interview their service department personnel, and take your car to the one that impresses you the most. I am now a firm believer in having my car serviced by the same team each and every time, rather than by luck of the draw. As in a patient-physician relationship, the rapport one has with the service staff enhances the overall quality of the experience.
Good luck.
