          Calling Tfung

I was wondering if you knew the part no.s of the rear mud-flaps on your M5 or where to get them? I wanted to put them on my wifes black 528i that I bought her, think it will help with the splash. Might even put it on my M5 too.

I'm with you on the flaps. I get a lot of spit from the tires on the rear bumber and deck lid some of which causes damage. I called Circle BMW yesterday and they said there is no part numbers for the M5 flaps and he didn't think there would be.

tfung, has flaps maybe there are for a five. Circle said the bumbers in Hong Kong were different than US bumpers and that may be the reason. A likely story?????

I would like to try them.

          I've got an idea.

If someone is close to a dealer(big customer) who has some five series flaps in stock, both 530i sedan and the touring, could ask the dealer if he could try them on his
M5 for fit. And depending on which one fit better report back to the board with part numbers would be great. I guess the flaps come in a plastic bag or a box but hopefully that shouldn't make a difference. We would be very greatful.

As far a appearance is concerned I'd have more fun driving if the flaps deflected the sputer and spit from the car. Who cares how it looks. Actually, it may look a little cool

          Is this a 3 series??

I don't have my M5 yet, but I'll try to drop by the dealer tomorrow to see if they offer a set for my wife's 528i. If they have some available I'll post the part numbers and maybe one of you could try it out.

Might just as well wait until you get the M5. The issue is; will a 530i sedan or wagon flap fit the M5. I know the part numbers. They are listed under accessories at http://www.circlebmw.com./parts/access/acc-cat.htm . We need someone to verify if the flaps will fit close enough to warrant purchase. And I'm only guessing the wagon may be different that the sedan. Part numbers are different.

On further inspection of the wagon it appears is has the best chance of a fit due to the straightness of the bumper flange. Only putting the different flaps against the plastic bumper will tell for sure.

My guess is there not wide enough for the tires, but may help keep down the tire spit off the rear.

          Tfung,

I'm glad that you found this post, thanks for responding. I hope your dealer can give you the information for the mud guards, like from which model BMW they got it from. Both Jim and I are interested in the mud guards, I think it will help protect the lower rear quarter panel from rocks and the damage that they cause!

I know that this is asking a lot from you but would you be willing to purchase the mud guards from your dealer and mail it to me if we couldn't get them here in the U.S.? Seems that a lot of times there are parts that aren't available here but are offered in other countries or it could be an aftermarket product thats not exported.

          Thanks Again!
