Self-install is pretty simple; it took me about 1 1/2 hours without prior experience. The 2 hardest steps are (1)getting the antenna wire from the headliner and (2)installing the compensator in a relatively small space.
pete, where did you buy all the parts for 20%discount, best quote i found was from pacific bmw for $1730.00. also does instructions come with the parts to try and intall yourself.
I called almost all of the dealers who advertise in the Roundel. The ones in California seem to be the most expensive; almost all of them charge MSRP or at best give 10-15% discount on the phone and install kit only. Funny thing was that the local dealers (Boston area) offered the best price: 20% discount on everything. I think they will ship anywhere. I bought from BMW of Peabody; see www.bmwpeabody.com for phone numbers. They had everything in stock.

I was able to get my CPT8000 for $520 and the install kit for $620 (through Pacific BMW). The compensator install kit was about $35. Everything else close to the same price if not a little less. It didn't include any discounts. Most CCA discounts don't apply to cellphone parts.
Agree with the installation difficulties with the compensator and antenna. I had the additional problem of finding another home for the TCU because I have the TV tunner also. The abense of the TV tuner would have allowed me to install the compensator above the NAV CD reader.
