Washer nozzles

My driver's side washer nozzle is clogged...and the right-side squirts washer fluid onto the sunroof. Is it just a simple matter of jamming a toothpick in the washer nozzle hole? C'mon! Doesn't someone out there know of a method less primitive than that?

I imagine some type of suitably-German approach to this...like:

1) Order part #63 45 1 789 001 - "Washer nozzle boring tool", or #57 28 1 645 021 - "Heated washer nozzle boring tool".

2) Read Technical Service Bulletin 28-1, "Clearing Debris Accumulation in Washer Nozzle".

3) Disconnect battery.

4) Heat washer nozzle boring tool to approximately 94 degrees F.

5) Insert washer nozzle boring tool into washer nozzle. **!! Do not insert past the inscribed line on washer nozzle boring tool!**

6) Using a rotating motion, clear the nozzle of debris with the washer nozzle boring tool.

7) Reconnect battery.

8) Test function, repeat if necessary.

Re: Washer nozzles

I've had luck with a pin. You can move the nozzle and reposition with the pin in the hole as well...it just takes a bit of trail and error to get it right.

Re: Washer nozzles

funny.

My philosophy is prevention is better than cure....be careful when waxing the car, as i found it is commonly the cause of blockages.

cheers

Re: Washer nozzles

I use welding torch tip cleaners which are heat treated wires of varying diameters. I find the one that most closely matches and use it to to clear out the debris as well as to re-direct the nozzles to where I want the spray to hit the windscreen.
