What to do about poor service? Please help.

I know that this is the M5 board, but I am having a serious problem with my dealership regarding my MRoadster. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This is a little long...
Okay, here is the situation. I took in my '98 MRoadster to the dealer because the battery was dying. I didn't feel like going to Sears so I had the dealer change the battery. I told them that as long as they had it there it would be nice if they could do an oil change. Our car club, AZ BMW Z3 Club, is supposed to have a deal for $9.95. Anyway, when I was driving the car home I noticed that the horn was no longer two tune. It was now only the high pitch horn. The dealer claims that this is mearly a coincidence and that there is no way they could have done that.

The real problem is this. The roadster has the 3 year 36K mile scheduled maintainence. I have 34,000 miles on the car now. I was down to 1 green light before the Inspection I light came on and while they had the car in for service they reset all of the lights. Now all of the green lights are up.

I called to strongly voice my concern for their mistake and hope that they would perform the inspection anyway, since they never should have reset the lights. They say that they pulled my service records and that the service interval on my car is about 10,000 miles and that the inspection I will not be performed before the car gets to 39,000 miles. He says that 11,000 miles between services is normal.

Basically, they are saying that the car never would have reached the service interval and they will not cover it. It is very strange because I also have a '98 528i, bought 1 day after the roadster from the same dealer. The inspection I light came on for that car at 34,000 miles.

Does anybody know anyway to get someone there to listen? It is amazingly frustrating. Also, the did end up overcharging for the oilchange because he put in the wrong code. We have never gotten any car fixed properly on the first try and it is not a trend that we want to keep.

They have never followed up on poor service and they seem to be of the philosophy that "the customer is always wrong".

Also, is it possible to transfer an ordered car to another dealership? We have an M5 coming in July and is it possible to have it switched to another dealership?

Does anybody have a number at BMWNA for someone who can help out?

Thanks,

GNALUZU

First off, when they call about the survey, i would give thme a very harsh poor and explain why. Secondly, call the custom care line 800.831.1117 and talk to any of the low-level dolts there, explain the situation, and tell them that this is unacceptable, blah blah blah. it should escalate to the point where they are talking to the service manager. in addition, i think YOU should call him and voice your concerns, regardless if you tell him that you're calling customer care (in fact, don't, because hopefully they will call him/her to inquire and pressure).

All in all, dealer with the bmw government is terribly frustrating, but patience matched with the desire to kick some *** makes for some form of resolve.
