I just had the strangest thing happen to me the yesterday. Lets see last week i changed theand for some reason yesterday morning while driving it gave me a 'upgrade software' error, and started going funny. It started up later.
Well as the day progressed, my nav kept on resetting every so often, again something that happens to me, just an annoying quirk that i have grown use to. But this time it started resetting teh clock/ date, and even the limit settings in the OBC?. I just figured i need to change to the old nav cd until a software upgrade was needed. well as the day kept on going i noticed the that some lights on my dash were flickering, ie the dsc light, brake light, abs, andthe nav goes blank, and even the damn radio would go quite, now i am getting nervous. well then as i was coming to toll booth the car died!!! well i tried to start it back up, all i heard was a 'tick tick tick tick tick'and the engine was not turning over?!?! once it started, the dsc light stayed on.. i also realized that the ligts would flicker when i would turn teh indicator lights, sounds soooo wierd. im going to take it it, my question is first has anybody had any problems like this before? and also my car has a subwi have just removed, and definately no wires are crossed, i am almost positive, but could this be a problem? and do y think the dealer will try to put blame on the subwoofer i installed? from what i have seen, the dealers like to blame the customer anyway they can. again i would think if anything the subwoofer could at the most cause a short, and blow a fuse, but not stuff like this. and anyway, there has been no problems and i have had it for months. but what do u guys think?
Electrical problems are often really hard to track down. I can understand why a dealer would tend to blame any electrical problems on user mods, since proving otherwise is so hard.
One possibility is that your new subwoofer might be putting too much load on the electrical system, especially when the engine is at low RPM, and that could cause enough voltage drop to make the other car electronics behave incorrectly. Did you add an additional power amp? Try disconnecting any extra power amps you installed and see if that helps. You could also try measuring the voltage across the battery terminals while the car is idling with the stereo and other stuff turned on. Anything below 11V is suspicious.
Also, your post is hard to read, due to some missing words and/or typos. I think an edit is in order. For example, you say:

What's "theand"? Oh, and "lets" need's an apostrophe.

I have experienced resets on the Nav but never the cut-off you described. Wish you much luck on diagnosis and resolution....expecially for this weekend's Lime Rock meet.

If you got a cheap cigarette lighter power cord, cut it open, and hooked it up to a voltmeter, you could check it out while you drove, etc.!
Some voltmeters can even keep the ranges that they see, i.e., max and min....
A voltmeter would indeed be handy right now. It should read somewhere around 13.8V at the battery terminals in the trunk. If it does read 13.8V or so, it is likely a lose connection (connector or fuse). If it reads low, say 9V-10V or even less, then the alternator or cable leading to it is likely faulty. Most electronic modules will not operate reliably below 9V and starters tend not to work much below that either, so I'll guess a charging problem for now.

Once you have unlocked the OBC press the right button until you get back to test #9 and then push the left button to read the voltage. If the MID clears itself to a blank display, do not worry. Simply press and hold the right button to get back into OBC display mode - you will not have to unlock again unless you turned off the ignition. Equally cool is that once you have selected function #9 you can start the car and watch the system recharge your battery. You can even drive around with the voltage displayed in the MID and watch what happens as you turn things on and off.
first off, ime really sorry for the hard to understand posts, my computer for some reason keeps on freezing up when i am downloading, and stops while i am typing. i will edit it from work tomorrow. second the subwoofer is now completely disconnected. actually the problem started happening after i have disconnected the subwoofer, but not immediately after. i am not sure if teh two correlate.
