I happen to be very happy with my X-Pipe and Hamann exhaust, the fit and quality are very good and I am also very pleased with the exhaust note. The question however is what YOU want . . . I am coming from an X-Pipe and Eisenmann Race exhaust and I THOUGHT that was what I wanted, three months later, my actual criteria changed from what I thought I wanted.
Qualification: My M5 is used for business and I carry both internal people as well as customers and I prefer not to have too loud of an exhaust system, this is not an issue for others. Clients already question my age, I need them comparing me to Rice Boys in their minds when they get in the car. For me, Hamann is a perfect balace and after all, isn't that what life is about? I also need to balance what my wife can endure, but that is a whole different topic.
The answer to your question is very subjective and many will give their suggestions, but the real answer is buried within what your goals are, not various opinions. JMO (HaHa), Kevin
