Re: Mr.Clean Auto Dry carwash system: Fact or fiction?
Bought mine from Target on sale for $16.00.
Overall it worked as advertised.
Also, current issue of Consumer Reports gave it a good writeup.

I am glade howler brought this subject up. If you have soft water and a wax that is not easily stripped, this would be the ideal combination with this product......yes? I will have to give it a try and see what happens over the RejeX I have applied.

I've used it a couple of times and have been very happy with the results. Now, however, I'm concerned about a possible wax issue.
Phil, it's not that bad, i had zaino'd my wifes landcruiser maybe 8 months ago, then after a couple months of washes it was needing a re-wax. I re-zaino'd it maybe 6 weeks ago, and have 'mr cleaned' it maybe 3 times since, and it still beads up very nicely. I'd say a synthetic polymer like zaino could easily go 3-4 mos (assuming a couple of washes per month, parked indoors etc) and still look pretty decent.

Over at the Roadfly Detailing/Car Care Message Board some of the gurus have commented on the harshness of the shampoo and its propensity for leaving a residue. I believe this is highly variable, depending upon your base wax. Since I use only Pinnacle Souveran without combining it with polymers such as Zaino Brothers or Klasse, I find that most of the carnauba wax will be stripped after using the AutoDry shampoo. As an experiment I used my Pinnacle shampoo with the AutoDry system, and, while the water did not sheet off as it did with the Mr. Clean shampoo, and I still had to dry with microfiber towels, much more of the carnauba wax seemed to be retained, both optically and tactilely.
I currently use the Mr. Clean shampoo only every 3rd or 4th wash, and I always follow with several coats of Pinnacle Souveran, even when I use the Pinnacle shampoo.

Re: Mr.Clean Auto Dry carwash system: Fact or fiction?
Sounds like a pretty good product, however I have been just as happy with using a california gold car squegee. works great for getting the water off and the difference in drying time is minor.

Re: Mr.Clean Auto Dry carwash system: Fact or fiction?
Worked for me. It's no secret that water spots come from mineral deposits. Filter out those minerals and you'll get no spots - no magic in it; amazing it took this long for a product like this to reach mass market.
Re: Mr.Clean Auto Dry carwash system: Fact or fiction?
Works for me as well.
I only use it for the final rinse. I don't really buy into the polymer soap thing, plus it strips your wax. It is important to work from the top to the bottom of the car and completely wash off the other water. I then take a drive down the road and let the air wipe the car off, then I use a towel to hit any wet areas and the windows. It is better than using a towel to dry the whole car. Also the filters only last about 6-8 washes for me. i guess I have really hard water.
Re: Mr.Clean Auto Dry carwash system: Fact or fiction?
You gotta be carefull with it, if the car's paint is too hot, you can end up with a white haze all over the car, that is not easy to get off.
It does sheet like it says, but you still gotta do some spots with a towel.
Personally I plan but not as of yet have done it, I plan to get one, and use only the filter water, ie wash as normal with the "clean water" soap etc, then wash off with "clean water". I think this should help some.

Re: Mr.Clean Auto Dry carwash system: Fact or fiction?
Anyone seriously creative out there?
Sounds like from the feedback the biggest advantage is the filter on the rinse side. How aout someone experimenting with a "PUR" or "Britta" waterfilter. I bet one of those direct faucet replacements could be re-threaded to work with a standard garden hose fitting.... anyone have the tools/dies to try this?
