The driver side door panel pict is accurate Chris. Thanks.

KGK: I don't know. I'm not sure that blue and red will go well together, even in such small degrees of red mediated by black. If it does, I'd be SOLD.

Chris, that is a very nice combo! The only other time I saw that combo was in a '01 being delivered to some lucky guy in FMW in Natick. Very rare and stunning indeed!

btw, did you buy the car from Wagner BMW in W. Springfield? I once lived in Springfield for a couple of years. Your pics bring back some memories of my frequent visits at that dealership

I have the caramel interior with wood trim and like it very much. My exterior is carbon black. I think I will change the floor mats out for black - both because I think it will look good and because with 58 miles on the car I already see scuff marks on the floor mats.

Strangely enough, I saw a parked M5 in "downtown" Menlo Park today, and it had the red seats!! They are dark red, and non-flashy. (I liked them.)

I don't think that BMW will "let you" order LeMans blue with red seat inserts, as this is an "illegal" color combination.

Now what I need to do is see somebody's LeMans blue M5 in person, and then I'll know if they were correct to forbid the red. (I've never seen LeMans blue in person.)

I'm still excited about anthracite and the black+red seats....

The red is darker, it's "Imola" versus "Arena" and the difference is the about the same in leather as it is in paint. My Imola M roadster is very different than a Porsche or Ferrari red. Actually, the red is the color of the red stripe just above on the new board format:just look up 4 inches (10 cm). Anthracite/Imola/Aluminum is sensational. From the reaction of the guys at the BMW euro delivery center (they had never seen one)to everyone else, it's been unfiormly positive. How many more than our two cars are they with the combo??

KRM5: Yep, we bought it at Wagner We actually had a spot at Foreign Motors West in Natick, but we were 13 on that list (and that was 1.5 years ago before M5 came out!) We just got lucky at Wagner and there was NO waiting list...how amazing was that.

In fact, the dealer almost screwed up the ordering of the car...in 00 you could get the Extended Leather or the All Leather...he chose extended, I saw it on the build sheet, and called him right away...geez, what a bunch of clowns

Rag: I'm sure there are a few more out there, but that's about it really! I really like this combination, as it is very understated and yet still a bit sporty. It's cool.

Unfortunately out monitors are playing a role in all of this as well, because our monitors differ quite a bit in terms of color reproduction Ah well...EVERYONE GET THEIR MONITOR CALIBRATED!

If you get the caramel interior in Heritage Leather (M3CR) you cannot get the aluminium trim - it must be wood ?!?!?!

Here are some more pics of the Imola Interior and Anthracite. I took the flash off on the camera, and that seems to have helped.

I would personally go with Le Mans blue for the exterior and simply black leather with the aluminum trim. Like Ashok Arora said, I don't think you can get a caramel interior with the aluminum trim (according to the bmwusa website). Even if you could, I don't think it would look nice. A wood trim is more suited to a caramel interior but maybe I would change my opinion if I saw a caramal interior with aluminum trim if it exists
