Check Brake Lining light question.

Just put new pads, rotors and brake wear sensors on the rear end. My Check Brake Lining message, and brake light were on since I disconnected the sensor and drove the car before doing the change.

After the change the lights are still on! Is this something that has to be reset at the dealer, or do I have to check my new sensor for some type of conductivity problem?

I know the Porsche has to get "dealer reset" for something like "low brake fluid" even if you top it off and the fluid level is back to normal! Is this the case with the M5 and the Brake Lining Light

on other E39's the re-set procedure for the BRAKE lignings (assuming all are in working order and no shorts, etc) is to turn the key to the start position (do not start... the one right before it actually turns the car over) and leave there for 30 seconds. stop and start the car... should re-set the light

if not... then you may have a continuity issue with the sensor

let us know how it works out for you
