For the past two days I've had this problem come and go. The exhaust note would change and throttle response becomes very sluggish. Instead of the crisp throttle response we're used to it's more sluggish. The exhaust note also changes to something more of a burbling sound. For those of you who have heard a Subaru WRX with an aftermarket exhaust will understand what the sound is like.
The best I can put it is instead of "Vrooom Vrooom" it's now "Brrrrrrroom Brrrrrrroom" I know this is not the best of explanations but that's all I got now. I'm starting to think wether something has gone on the engine or is this a software or exhaust problem? It would be like that for awhile and then goes away. It's starting to worry me now. Some help please.

Yeah, thats my first thought too, mine didnt have the
sluggish thing, but when the cam sensor would fail intermittently, it would sound real throaty like it had headers. Sounded cool, but new cam sensor fixed it,
then cam tubi.

"Is it the sounds that make a BMW a BMW? A BMW is designed to be heard, felt, experienced. So our engines sing. Our steering talks back. And we insist on offering manual transmissions in nearly all our models for drivers who crave them. The result is an almost telepathic oneness with the car. Just as surely as you can hear a BMW, a BMW hears you."
Alright, I just got my car back from the dealer and it was the cam sensor that was faulty. The only thing was when I got the car back, my seat memory were all gone.
Now the car actually sounds different. It's not as loud as it used to be anymore. I only had the cam sensor fail in the past two or three days and the car sounded awsome after the headers and cats were installed. Now after replacing the cam sensor, car is more quiet. Did any of you guys notice this? I also feel as if though the car lost power as well. But that might be due to the weather as it is much warmer today compared to the past week.
Maybe it's just me but I like the way my car sounded before.
My car is having the same problem. I thought I had an exhaust leak but that was checked and everything was tight. I had to make an appointment at the dealer which isnt until next wensday. Is there and potential for damage driving in this condition?Additionally how does the cam sensor change the way the engine sounds?
Thanks for your help!
