Sway Bars for E39 M5

I know that the E39 M5's have sway bars from the factory, but I was wondering if installing bigger aftermarket sway bars help or hinder performance? Tell me if I'm wrong, but if the sway bars are too big, you have a chance of serious oversteer and/or understeer. I don't plan on taking my car to the track, but will use as a daily driver (in good weather only, if not will take my wife's Ford Focus hiha). Is it worth the upgrade? Thanks in advance.

The Dinan rear sway is nice since it's adjustable; the front isn't necessary unless you're running a square setup.

I found that the rear in the middle hole position helped dial out some of the understeer when running a stock wheel configuration. Moving to the outer holes on a square configuration kept the same neutral handling.

I wouldn't recommend the inner holes on either configuration unless you're adept at controlling a tail-happy car.

If you don't push the car hard, the stock bars are probably fine. Any kind of driving fun, fast roads will probably benefit from a bigger rear sway...

I'm not a suspension expert but my understanding of this is the reverse, that the front was not needed if you were running a square setup??

Either way, going square took care of the under-steer and the Dinan RSB made it a little bit nicer....Not gonna change a thing.

edit...Oh, and the PSS were icing on the cake over the worn out Hankooks.

If you are trying to dial out some understeer on the street, you can put rear wheel/tire setup on the front. Use 3mm spacers and longer bolts (or just swap out to studs and nuts).

Interesting I dont see it on their website either. I just bought mine in Feb'15 directly from them.

As a daily driver, no. I don't see any reason for an upgrade unless you tear around corners on your commute. As the above posters mention, you can dial some different steering characteristics using sway bars.

To be honest, the only difference you might notice is the extra wear on your steering and subframe bushings...maybe.

So I heard back from Dinan re: the rear sway bars:

"They were discontinued back in February but we had enough interest and demand to do one last production run on them from a few of our dealers so they will be brought back for a short time. Right now I do not have an ETA as there have been some production delays beyond the original 5-6 week lead time. I would imagine they would make an appearance at some point in June. I would check back in on the website often as I will re-list them once they are available again."

I'll be trying to keep an eye out for this!
