          Real time tire pressures...

Is it just me or is this a lacking feature? I skimmed the owners manual and saw nothing about getting real time readings. I have this feature in my Jeep and like to see the pressures on my monitor real time.

Wouldn't there be an easy way to get the pressures and display them on the dash?

          How about this...

Tire Pressure Monitor incorporates RF and antenna technology.

PressurePro™ monitors tires with pressures up to 150 psi and reads 1–34 tire positions. It combines small sensors that screw onto valve stems and monitor that plugs into power accessory in vehicle. System displays current tire pressures and alerts when tire pressures fall by 12.5% and again at 25%. PressurePro™ is suited for autos, RVs, buses, trucks, and towed vehicles.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Advantage PressurePro Introduces to the Marketplace, PressurePro™ Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems

Responding to the growing demand for Safety, Economy and Conservation of resources, Advantage PressurePro LLC., Harrisonville, Mo. introduces to the marketplace, PressurePro™ Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems, for Autos, RV’s, Buses, Trucks and Towed vehicles.

Tire Pressure Monitoring is of utmost importance in adding safety, saving fuel, and extending tire life. The Firestone/Ford controversy cast a bright light on the importance of proper tire pressure. This issue has been reinforced by the Congress’ recent passage of the TREAD Act, which drives home the importance of tire pressure monitoring.

PressurePro™ has pioneered the development of a revolutionary new external tire pressure monitoring system by incorporating patented RF & antenna technologies, bringing to the market a product that is versatile, reliable, durable, cost effective and simple to install and easy to use. Reading from 1 to 34 tire positions, and tires with pressures up to 150 psi, PressurePro™ delivers high reliability at an economical cost – adding greater safety and savings. Small sensors (2/3oz) screw onto the valve stems. The Monitor plugs into the power (lighter) accessory in the vehicle and displays current tire pressures (for all types of vehicles with pneumatic tires) and alerts at two low pressure levels - when tire pressures fall by 12.5% and again at 25%. PressurePro™ installs quickly and easily (the only system on the market that does not require tools to install).

PressurePro is distributed nationwide through approved dealers, distributors, and their website at: www.advantagepressurepro.com

          Re: Real time tire pressures...

As I understand it, the M5 doesn't actually monitor pressure, rather it measures rotation speed. When it senses a delta in rotation speed under certain circumstances, it assumes that a tire is low/flat.

I like the pressurepro idea, but I think they might be too large/heavy. The current M-logo caps (not the stock caps) will bend over at high speed and actually touch the rim. If this thing is any heavier, it will take a beating against the rims...

If it's a radio device, why can't they make one that mounts like a tire weight inside the tire on the wheel???

Fellow board member, Greg, has the Smartire system. He seems to be very happy with it.

          Cheers.

          Re: Real time tire pressures...

Smartire has a new system being tested that uses no batteries. This should give the sytem longer life and it will also weigh quite a bit less. I don't know how long until it will be available. The sensors are strapped to the rims before putting the tires on rather than the valve-stem cover type.
