New owner to the Board

Hi all.

I just got my 01 Black Carbon this past weekend. I upgraded from a 350hp WRX. Big difference is all I can say! Wow. I love this car.

Details: Chrome wheels. Nappa Heritage leather. 33k miles, CPO car.

Anyone have the OEM sticker for a car like this ( I like having this stuff in my files). I couldn't find any info on the web for options and pricing.

Also, I want to start with upgrading the brake ducts. What do most people do here to get those awesome looking brake ducts on the front mesh grille.

Thanks,

jeremy

Re: New owner to the Board

Welcome to the board, and congrats on your beast. The 2 front grille ducts are either from the AA CAI or are just Home Depot sink drains that lead to brake duct openings that cool the front brakes.

Cheers.

A 350 HP WRX, still has some lag from stand still. 2 totally different cars. One a total luxury pkg car and the other a pure utilitarian car (grocery getter). Note: My car is a sport WRX wagon. Its a 2.0L with JDM spec STI parts and Vishnu tuning - Simply put, its an STI killer.

A more fair comparison is what we autocross against - the M3. WRX is a well balanced car, light, nimble, and very quick if you launch her with a clutch dump at 4000+ RPM(its murder on the clutch and tranny). My WRX will do a 0-60 is 4.2 with a perfect launch. Its a low 13 second car in the quarter. Not bad for a wagon!

From a rolling start, the tables turn though. The M5 will probably kill the WRX easily. Also, from a race on the highway say starting at 65mph+, the M5 will pull easily on the WRX depending on the boost level setting of the WRX. At higher boosts, I would be able to take on the M5 and make it more interesting - but the race would stop at 125+. WRX is simply not designed for that much more speed. WRX is more of a sprinter at the stop light or the dragstrip (AWD is king from a standstill).

I got the M5 b/c I told her the only way I'd ever consider getting rid of the WRX was when I would be given permission to buy the M5. Boy, did she surprise me when she said yes! Wife won't let me play with it anymore (I've done all the mods personally - so it will be sad for me to sell her). She has upgrade 2 tone leather, moonroof and almost all the goodies in a high end car.

Jeremy

Welcome to the board! The WRX is a fine car indeed, but IMHO the package of the M5 takes it above and beyond most cars, no matter what the HP or acceleration. Great to see you found a good example.
