I was considering adding a chip to my '03 M5. Which would you do? Is it easy to build on the Powerchip for Stage 2 and or 3 from Dinan?

Most of the people on this board would say POWERCHIP...

Although I going to do Dynamic Chip...ECU adjusted while you drive the car....I beleive is the best way to do it...

After much reading on this forum, I decided to purchase the Powerchip Gold 91 software for my 03 Beast. I ordered it last week and received the installation software, instructions and cables yesterday. They give M5board.com members a $100.00 discount if you mention the site.
I plan to install the package this weekend.
I'll post my results shortly after.

You'll be pleased with the results. Be advised, it may take a couple of hundred miles for the ECU mapping to "settle" down...then enjoy it!

I was also considering purchasing a chip/ software for the M5. I had traditionally used Dinan software but with 5 different "stages" and no professed HP improvements I think that a different company is the way to go. Has anyone ever done the Dinan software alone and compared it to say powerchip's gold 91/93?

My car had the Dinan software when I bought it. It was fast, but cold driveability was not good for the first minute or so (and this is warm south Florida). I did the Powerchip ECU upgrade. I happened to catch the guys at PC on a weekend in California, so I did the install on a Sunday. Emailed info, 3 hours later they emailed back the revised program. Install was a breeze. More importantly, I noticed an immediate difference. 95% of the cold stumble was gone and the car felt stronger in each gear. It felt like the sport button was on compared to Dinan. And the sport button gave another kick. Please note: I LIKE Dinan products, by and large they are well researched and work well, if generally overpriced. I have enough Dinan points for a badge which is on the car. However, this is one area where I think PC has done a better job. YMMV.

That does seem to be the general consensus. I have also heard good things about something called the "ritterchip" don't have any details on this however.
Believe I am going to do the exhaust mod first (for purly sound reasons) then do the chip upgrade. Thanks again

Is the Dynamic chip a name brand or a type of chip?

I have heard of several companies that offer a chip that essentially learns your vehicles charicteristics and programs itself i.e. Dynamically "programmed" but had never heard of a specific chip called Dynamic.

Dynamic Chip uses DIM chip equipment, it an Italian company which make chiptuning equimpment....They service they provide and has been proven, that is the ways to get best results out of ECU's remapping while driving the CAR..and adjusting everything while you drive....ASK member Apples he had his car set up this way.....
