Extended Scheduled Maintenance Program

Has anyone purchased the extended maintenance program for their M5? I just bought a 2001 M5 with 13000 miles and it has one more month of the factory maintenance and I know that you can extend it as long as it is still under the factory program. Not being familiar with the M5 maintenance costs I am trying to determine if this is a good deal. If so, what did you pay and where did you buy it from?
Thanks

Re: Extended Scheduled Maintenance Program

I got extended maintenance from my dealer at whatever they charge -- I think it was slightly over 1500 -- just before I hit my 36 months -- this is the extended maintenance, not extended warranty. I was making a bet that between the potential of brakes and an inspection service and an oil service that this would be cheaper.

Re: Extended Scheduled Maintenance Program

Thanks. I currently have quotes for $1850 and $1999, but I found a copy of BMW's announcement of this program and it indicates that suggested list price is $1650 so I am trying to find a dealer closer to that. What dealer did you get yours from?

Re: Extended Scheduled Maintenance Program

I believe it shouldn't matter on which dealer you get it from as long as they enter your VIN into the system. What the dealer will do is check your VIN and mileage to make sure that you qualify and voila.

Here's a dealer you can call:

BMW Maintenance Plan Upgrade Program & Pricing

BMW has just announced the Maintenance Upgrade plan to either 4yrs/50k miles or 6yrs/100k miles. This will be available from January 12, 2004.

This will cover all factory recommended maintenance as listed in the BMW Service and Warranty Information Booklet for the selected plan. Wear items such as brake pads and rotors, external engine drive belt, wiper blade inserts, clutch discs and any adjustments required due to normal operating conditions will be covered.

To qualify for either program your BMW must be a 2000 - 2002 model and be currently covered by and existing (not expired) maintenance (3yr/36k or 4yr/50k) program.

Costs:
BMW Maintenance 3/36 to 4/50
MY 2000 - 2002, 6cyl, $399
MY 2000 - 2002, 8cyl, $449
BMW Maintenance 3/36 to 6/100
MY 2000 - 2002, 6cyl except M's, $1384
MY 2000 - 2002, 8cyl and M's, $1644
BMW Maintenance 4/50 to 6/100
MY 2000 - 2002, 3 series, Z3 and Z4 Series except M's, $995
MY 2000 - 2002, All other BMW Models including M's, $1195
