2000 M5 Owners

Just out of curiousity, is there anyone that has a 2000 model that has NOT had any problems?? I have not had any problems yet at 27K miles. It seems to run perfect.

Re: 2000 M5 Owners

I have 63,565 miles on my 2000 M5 and have had no major problems. A/C went crasy at about 38,000 miles but was fixed at dealer.

Re: 2000 M5 Owners

58k ON MY 2000...
Clutch at 27K, no explanation needed.
VANOS around 35K, but that was the dealer's miscall...actually had a slightly warped exhaust system that was vibrating against the frame.
A couple of sensors along the way.
Stone chips galore.
Lots of tires.
Lots of wax.
Lots of smiles.

11/99 production M5, 30,000 miles.
1-Just did the clutch
2-Replaced MAF's my bad.....K&Ns !*&$**#
3-Guage cluster replaced burnt pixels (BMW replaced good will, was out of warranty)

I have the typical noisy vanos but my car pulls amazingly well. My only concern is oil consumtion. 1600 miles since my last oil change and I had to top op 3/4 of a litre. Not sure if this is normal or not.

I love the beast!

Cheers,
Stan

Re: 2000 M5 Owners

4 years almost 3 months, and 41,000 miles just the other day and no major problems at all.

I also had the instrument panel replaced under warranty due to LOTS of lost pixels and now have the nice gray gauges that the post-2001 models have.

The seat heater switches needed to be replaced a few months ago on warranty, which also affected the rear sunshade switch.

Had the weird electrical gremlin that made the A/C have a mind of its own, and that was resolved as well. Seems that affected a lot of Year 2000 models across the 5-series line.

I have had the 3M film on the car since the month I got it and it performs flawlessly, and it doesn't look bad on Silverstone. The weird thing is that I have chips on the trunk lid on the rear surface near the badge... can't explain why...

Love the car. LOVE IT!

Re: 2000 M5 Owners

11/99 build date. New gauge cluster, new wheels (at 3 years and 11 months), vanos accumulator. Other than that, some oil consumption when I really run it. My biggest complaint? I can't find any tire for the rears that will last more than 7500 miles.

I'm assuming that's a joke and that you are hinting at your propensity for lighting it up..

My tires usually last at least 20,000 miles and I'm not one to take it easy at lights Quick question on the vanos accumulator.. did you get it replaced because of a specific problem or because of the diesel-sounding nature of the 2000 beasts? Even after 41,000 miles the car sounds like a little bit of a diesel.. even after the Tubis..
