OT: I almost forgot just how WONDERFUL the 540i is.........

I was with my childhood buddy tonight, as we went out for dinner, drinks and cocktails at a few different gentlemen's clubs in North Jersey and Manhatten. My dear friend is a Detective Srgt. of Internal Affairs at an "unnamed" Police Dept. in NJ. While driving home, I got the 540i up to 150 MPH !!! The car is ssoooooo solid, its not funny! I was amazed at the power of the 540i, having been away from it, since I acquired the 2003 M5.
My buddy was shocked at the sheer power the motor has, and at 150 MPH, the car wanted to go and go and go......................... This took place on Route # 80, heading West bound, as we were driving back home. Technically the car is a DINAN 540i and man ooohhhh man does my wife have a beast of her own! hehehehe........
Havea great weekend guys. I know I will, since I will be in Atlantic City for my birthday!
Looookk out !!!!!!!!!

The 540 is an amzing vehicle. I still miss mine even with the M5. While it does not have the sheer grunt of the M5, it handled exceptionally well, ran smooth, and never gave any electronic problems or SES lights like the M5 does. I agree with the power, it is very underrated and has no problem pulling to 150 or so.

Member DHarland has a Shadowman/Discovery Automotive Supercharged 540i-M. I was lucky enough that David let me drive it and I loved it!

Young,
My wife's 540i is an automatic with the sport package, as it has the 3:15 rea diff. The DINAN mods are very straight forward & basic, free flow exhaust, cold air intake, engine software and transmission software. Thats enough to transform the car into a monster type sedan!

2003 M5,
Thanks for the BD reply.

The 540 looks nice! Is that Imola Red or Electric Red (assume it's Electric Red as I think that was available up through 2001...then again, if the car is Canadian, it could be Imola I think)?

Is there more info on the car posted somewhere else on the web?

I've said before and I'll say it again:

The 540i is the second-best sport sedan in the world.

Re: OT: I almost forgot just how WONDERFUL the 540i is.........

Indeed the 540i was a great car. I modded it, drove it, loved it. But something about the Beast finally lured me to it. It was calling me just like "the precious."

A Beast, parked just one car away from the 540i/6. Little did I know I would own that exact kind, Jet Black, Chromeline, PDC. Weird man, Weird.
