M5 Shop Manual on CD

Has anyone actually bought and used an original BMW Repair (Shop Manual) CD-ROM for the E39 M5? If so, is the CD-ROM good in describing everything a DIY needs to know? I'm also looking for any other relevant documentation, including parts listing.

thanks,

Are you talking about the ones on ebay all of the time? If so, i have not specifically seen on for the M5 (if one really exists) but have used the general BMW TIS and ETK cd's. You can buy "official" ones from www.centrallettershop.com if you feel guilty buying bootleg copies from ebay, or want the most up to date version. The TIS has some handy info on it, but it is not really a good shop manual, imho. It's kind of confusing to navigate thru, sometimes difficult to find what you really want etc. The ETK is the parts catolog, which is often more helpful (for me at least) as it shows assemblies in an exploded fashion, so you can figure out how to take something apart. They aren't really expensive, so i'd recommend having one, but a bentley manual is a better resource, unfortunately it doesn't have any M5 specific info in it. Maybe you could post a link to the manual you're asking about, in case there's something new out there!
Mike
