The beast has a new exhaust , the Milltek cat-back system.
First of all a few thanks, namely to John Thorney of Auto-amd in Bicester who supervised the fitting of the system (and took the pics below) and to Ashok for answering my many private messages to him regarding his experience with the Milltek system.
I am in no way affiliated with any of the people mentioned here but I wanted to share my experience with you as reading through this message board has been a great help to me.
Firstly a few pics
the stock system above, the car hasn't been washed for 3 weeks and it was raining!
here it is below, detached from the car
next the milltek system being fitted, the mid section first
now the right bank
and finally the Milltek system in place
The service at auto-amd was very good, they kept me informed about the progress of the fit (took 2.5 hours) and they also discovered a loose rear anti roll bar and fixed it!
I didn't notice the exact moment when they drove the car into the workshop but i certainly new when they had finished! I could hear a low pitched rumbling noise outside as the car returned from the road test.
Initial impresssion:
at idle : a low pitched rumble very TVR like but not as loud
1000-2000rpm some booming, very much like the stock system but louder
2000 rpm + rumbling sound, very V8, not too loud at all, quite a deep sound that keeps you wanting to floor the throttle to hear it all again. And on the overrun the is some gentle distant popping/rumbling which i think sounds great.
The system is no where as load as the kelleners' but it is still much louder than the stock exhaust. in fact it was parked next to my colleagues e-class mercedes yesterday and when i fired her up and revved the engine his car alarm went off!
Now this system needs to settle for a few hundred miles then i can post a video or sound clip.
