          Clunking sound

Has anyone experienced a "clunking" sound from the front suspension?

The problem I'm experiencing occurs when going over speed bumps and making turns that cause the car to flex (such as making a turn onto a flat road at the end of a declining driveway). My car has been in the shop since last Thursday and my dealer still can't find the problem. They originally thought a part in the steering system (I don't remember which part) needed to be replaced. However, replacing the part did't make the noise go away.

As a side note, I don't have any questions about the competency of my SA or the service technicians. These guys are the best in the Dallas area by far.

Sounds like the front control arms are bad. This is common on the X5. I had them replaced at 8K miles with symptoms as you observe.

          Digi,
You were right. It was the left control arm.
