US prices for M5s are very low these days, so even at $44K it is a good deal. The issues you mention are very inexpensive to repair, here are some observations (these are just my opinions):
- Imola (usually purchased by younger owners, and is known to be a color that is more difficult to sell).
- Black interior (this is a first year vehicle, and demand was so high that people were buying anything available, similar to the Laguna Seca Blue e46 M3 when it came out. You can retrofit red inserts if you choose.)
- Titanium trim (watch for peeling).
- PDC (earlier cars only had rear PDC).
- Retrofit sunshad (no side window shades) (would be nice to have side windows).
- 29k miles (low miles for a 2000)
- Canada car (I can't see the issue here, and don't think that it should affect the value, although it may be a negotiating point with a dealer).
- needs center console ($350 from
www.pacificbmw.com)
- needs right rear door trim (If this is the outside piece it costs $15)
- needs brake pads (less than $100)
- cracked front valance (not bad) ($100)
- leaking a bit of oil at the vanos oil return unit (probably just a bolt tighten but not sure) (I would check this with a BMW dealer before buying the car)
- new pilot sports (nice, and worth about $1,400)
- no body work except up on the front lower valance (rare to not have stone chips and a few minor nicks and scratches on a 2000)
- tint (nice to have as it keeps the car cooler, is more discrete and keeps glass fragments together in an accident)
Cheers.
