WHAT TO LOOK FOR ON THE TEST DRIVE?

I'm off to the dealer next Wednesday - any tips on what to do (apart from burnouts!).

Ashok,

I've only put about 600 miles on mine so far, and I haven't exceeded the 5,500 rmp limit on break-in ( I know, I'm a chicken ), but a G-Suit and Sunglasses might be in order! I would probably look for a winding road to test the handling...other than that let the "Beast" out and hang on!

Have fun.....

It's a new one (order now for November delivery - ugh!)... any options worth having?

Ashok - search the board on "options" - there have been many such discssions. I'm sure you know there aren't that many - but most people are opting for the better stereo. We're divided about all-leather vs. rear sunshades - you can only have one or the other (unless that changed for the 2001 model year?) I'm a sunshade guy - and after seeing the all-leather, I'm glad. You have to look real hard to even tell whether its leather or BMW's premium vinyl up there on the dash - and I prefer to keep the interior cool and out of the sunlight to preserve all the leather that is there.

You should feel good if you find a dealer that let you test drive the M5. As far as I know, none of the dealers here in San Diego let me do that and that's also the reason why they're NOT getting my business.

Their heads were so up high thinking that they're on top of the world by offering potential buyers $10K-$15K over MSRP. Just watch when the cycle has completed, they'll be begging for customers again.

I'll not be needing the sunshades for London - that's for sure! The dealer's in Belgium - how does saving £ 15000 ($25000) sound??
