EUROPEAN CAR magazine does a 2 page article on RMS. Can you belive it?!?!???

Guys, I just got back from the
"Stop-n-Shop" supermarket, and what do I see when browsing past the magazine isle..............
BMW Z8 super dyno results on the front cover of European Car magazine. I didn't read the two page article but skimmed through it, seeing enough to know that the car is a black BMW Z8 (sharp looking car) with supercharging system installed by OSH/RMS.
Boys............ Now I've seen it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean, what the Funk !!!!! @#*&!*@!#@*&@!*
Is this magazine on drugs or what!?!
Or is the magazine a cheap " on the take" publication, equal to a rag magazine? The magazine is the June edition. Check it out. Any thoughts on this and the magazine???
thanks.
Robert

Re: EUROPEAN CAR magazine does a 2 page article on RMS. Can you belive it?!?!???

Robert,

That Z8 belongs to Shadowman like Supercharged posted, but look past the initial story and read Shadowman's posts regarding Osh in the last month. You can bet that the article was put together before the RMS/BlackM5 scandal broke loose last month.

In the posts by Shadowman, you can read that he was a friend of Osh's and wanted to help him. Shadowman admits that he was not happy with the work done by Osh and had to redo the supercharger install to make it run properly. Probably at the time of the article, Shadowman let the article give credit (without mentioning the rework) to Osh to help him out.

The truth came out when the RMS/BlackM5 scandal broke loose and we learned that Osh had difficulty doing the install on the M5/Z8's. You can also bet that any story (since a writer has to write and have it published to make money) is not going to show all of the details we heard about on this board. In addition, if a writer is biased, (maybe receiving work, parts, or money from a shop (Osh) he will write anything to help that shop. Remember, the writer is not the BBB or BAR and will not report all of the issues. I knew a writer in the hotrod market that would write a favorable story on your shop if you paid him and he often made some lousy shops look like God's Gift to the business.

John

Re: EUROPEAN CAR magazine does a 2 page article on RMS. Can you belive it?!?!???

I recieved my mag about a week after Black posted his initial post. So the story was prepared well before the poop hit the fan. (I hope it is okay to say poop? )

I thought it was very interesting how there was absolutely no commentary in the article about its performance. There was nothing good!!!!

No zero to sixty times or anything. I thought that this was very unusual, but probably not . . .

Another strange part of the article was that it didn't give the impression that it was or was not a "RMS" car. This is probably because I had been glued to my computer reading Shadowman's posts the week before.

The whole article (given what we had been discussing on the board) was just strange. I guess it would not have been if I didn't know that Osh cannot actually put the Z8 package together.

Knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Re: EUROPEAN CAR magazine does a 2 page article on RMS. Can you belive it?!?!???

As much as I enjoyed seeing the article in European Car magazine it was suppose to be done in conjuction with a siginficant write-up for Rob @ UUC regarding the new M5/Z8 clutch he has recently brought to market. I made it very clear to European Car magazine that my interest was only in supporting Rob and if they agreed to do so I would offer the car for the magazine. I had no interest in being in the magazine, in fact I did not even participate in the photo shoot. The resulting mention for Rob @ UUC was slight to say the least and what is even more important......I gave European Car magazine the bio's on the project as they requested and not only made it clear but we also had an agreement between us that RMS was to mentioned only as a contributor to the project not the company that the project revolved around.

I have shared with others and continue to be very disappointed that the article leads one to believe that Osh aka RMS produced the car you see. This is simply not the case. I truly hope that unsuspecting individuals do not get sucked in as the result of this article.

As was mentioned in this post by another board member I too suggest that you refer back to earlier post of mine and you will have a much better understanding of what happened and how the finished car came to be.

In retrospect, if I had known then what I know today the car would never have been placed in the magazine. I had no personal interest only my most sincere desire to support Rob and his new M5/Z8 clutch product.

After meeting Rob this weekend at TechFest and briefly driving his M5 with the UUC clutch, I'm ready for it. What an incredible difference it makes! Rob is a great guy too.

"Is it the sounds that make a BMW a BMW? A BMW is designed to be heard, felt, experienced. So our engines sing. Our steering talks back. And we insist on offering manual transmissions in nearly all our models for drivers who crave them. The result is an almost telepathic oneness with the car. Just as surely as you can hear a BMW, a BMW hears you."

Re: EUROPEAN CAR magazine does a 2 page article on RMS. Can you belive it?!?!???

I just read through the post and came away wondering whether Osh/RMS produced this completed product. Let me make this perfectly clear "NO". The 4-6 week project was finally removed after 8 months (are to keep the timeline 35 weeks) as a project still under developement and far from complete. It was placed in my facility where it was "Completely" torn down, re-engineered and assembled to the condition shown in the article.

The car in fact is beautiful, runs awesome but should not be considered a refelction of what Osh/RMS can produce. I can share this because after receiving and re-doing several examples of Osh/RMS's quote finished pieces the term I use is "Oh MY Gosh".
