These pics are evidence of what led me to the M5. I spared no money to make my Vette fast. Suspension, drivetrain, exhaust, wheels/tires, brakes, everything but the body was composed of the best aftermarket stuff. Raced it regularly at NCCC (Corvette) events, as well as plenty of drags.
I became accustumed to winning. But it was at Gilmore's Car Museum International Sport's Car Show where I first learned of the wrath of the mighty BMW "M". I took a 3rd place to two M3's in the Over 2.5 Liter autocross. WTF! What's an "M car"?
The next year I raced the same event after completely replacing the suspension with coilovers, Heim-jointed end linked swaybars, poly bushings, etc., etc. This time, I took 2nd - you guessed it - losing to another BMW M3. That was the last straw! Can't beat them, join 'em.
Fast forward to today. Both my dentist and barber asked me if I missed the Vette (sold it last year). My reply: Not at all. I am having more fun driving that blue 4-door!
