DSP

I am putting in a mini PC using the Car Amp software (www.caramp.de) and the schematic on www.varan.org.
I have to connect the audio output to the DSP.
Where is the DSP in a 2001 M5. What does it look like and how do I connect to it?
Thanks
Steve

Re: DSP

Steve,
I am doing exactly the same thing as you and i have ordered the tvfree module from

http://www.tvfree-modules.com/

to make it easier. You need to feed the audio into one of the audio inputs on the screen controller, i believe the tvfree module uses the tape input...

Re: DSP

Thanks
I am not going to use a TV module, but use the PC as a mp3 and DVD player.
I want to keep my CD changer, so what is the best way to get audio from the PC into the car system.
Car Amp can start when tape is selected (as tape is no longer required), so how do I get the audio signal in?

Re: DSP

I think you will still need the TV module as the screen will turn off once you start driving (unless you have the old 4:3 screen which can be tricked into staying on) . To get the audio in in mono you can use the AV in on the video module (pinouts are easily found on openbmw or hacktheibus on yahoo groups) if you want stereo in you will have to tap the cd or tape inputs and their location is different depending which screen you have 4:3 or 16:9 cd inputs are always in the back and then you would have to feed video in through the reverse cam inputs on the video module, tape are in the trunk on the 16:9 and in the dash on the 4:3....
