Clutch slipping??? This is why!!!

Nasty. I wish my camera was better so you could really see how bad this clutch is. Few to many hard shifts. There are some spots that are almost down to the rivots.

Re: Clutch slipping??? This is why!!!

Thanks for the nice pictures. It was interesting to see how a bad one really looks. When I changed my clutch on the M5 the mechanic threw it away before I had the chance to look at it.

How was the car to drive before you changed it?

Re: Clutch slipping??? This is why!!!

That looks horrible. Did you go with another factory clutch, or something more durable this time around?

Re: Clutch slipping??? This is why!!!

cidair, it was interesting the car seemed at the time to be fine under normal driving condition but when I shifted hard the clutch would slip pretty much every time. I didn’t realize until after I installed the new clutch that it was also slipping pretty much on any type of shift. When I first got the car I was a little disappointed in its 0-60 and 1/4 mile times and even just regular driving. With the clutch being so badly worn there was always a little hesitation between shifts so car would never really hook up and the power was delayed to the wheels, but now its a hole different story just trying to keep from leaving rubber on the pavement is a challenge.

ELEVENS I did go with the stock replacement it's a Sachs clutch. I want to see what it's like for me. If I end up burning through it then I'll go with an upgraded clutch.

Consider Dinan or UUC.

I went with OEM clutch with Dinan S1 flywheel... working like a champ. Will probably upgrade the clutch next time.
