My experience is different. When I turned off the car the "Check Control" came on and said that the oil was low. I checked the dip stick and it registered right at the bottom mark. I put in a quart and the check control warning disappeared.
BTW, the guy at the driving experience said you could check up to 1/2 hour after turning off the motor and, in fact, recommended this. Isn't it amazing all the different stories we get? I'm sticking with the manual on this one.
