Close encouter of the M5 kind...

This is my post from the bimmerfest.com forum
Moderator, feel free to move this to what ever forum you think is appropriate

******
well.... I've finally saw it and touched it in person. This morning, stopped by Portos in Glendale w/ my wife for breakfast. As we exited the car, my wife laughed and said:"... That's funny!! there are a bunch of BMW's here.." and I looked up and saw this

And I knew I was gonna have a good day And told my wife "... Holy Crap!! That's an E60 M5!!"

She replied:"... really??!! well... here is another one.." and I turned my head and saw this:

Upon close examination of the M5s, it is appearent that the Brakes are outrageously HUGE!! The rear rotors have a larger diameter than my stock M5 fronts. Also, the side gills do not exist.

I pull my car up next to one of the E60 M5... and I am sorry to say... anyone who thinks the E39 M5 looks better better than the E60 M5 is just plain STUPID!! :p

I'd sell my "POS" for the REAL deal any day (actually... not really :eeps: I need to wait for the M5 to arrive :p ).

E60 is here to stay... Long live the KING!!

Re: Close encouter of the M5 kind...

I don't know bee, call me stupid but I still like the lines of the E39. But I must say the E60 is starting to grow on me a little bit. The rear looks better but those eyebrow headlights still turn me off.
Where are the under the hood pictures? Any more details on who was testing these and how they ended up there?

Wow, great detective work Bewang!! You are like a private eye for the M5 obsessed fans. Thanks for sharing these photos with us. I must say the E60 M5 is shaping up nicely, and it looks huge compared to the E39. It is also nice to see no side gills (I do not like them on the E60 Concept). Now, I cannot wait to get some feedback reports from roadtesters.

Re: Close encouter of the M5 kind...

Thanks first off for the great detective work and the photos! I also must admit that the E60 styling is really growing on me, although the E39 is such a classic! One question though, from the front and sides the two look in porportion size wise, but the rear gives me a different opinion. Is the E60 M5 signifcantly bigger than the E39?

Thanks in advance for the reply.

Nice encounter - interesting to see BMW trying Continental tyres as well as the Pilot Sports...
