UK: Tubi exhaust/AP Racing brakes

Just got the car back from Birds (UK) Ltd with Tubi exhaust and AP Racing brakes installed (front only). The Tubi sounds utterly incredible - brings the car to life in a way I could not imagine. Not noticed the smell yet! The brakes have to be bedded in for another 100 miles or so, so I'll report when that's happened. Contrary to what I've read elsewhere about AP brakes, the pedal feels fine - hard, progressive and safe. Quite a tight fit under the 18" OEM wheels. Cost? Tubi: £1,547.99 + VAT + £232.80 + VAT fitting. AP brakes: £1,655.09 + VAT + £349.20 + VAT fitting + some Dot 5.1 brake fluid. As I've said before, I cannot recommend Kevin Birds outfit high enough (in particular, his technician Pinder). pm me if you want to hear the Tubi (London and Wiltshire).

Alan

Andy

AP lightened flywheel/clutch assembly is a possibility after trying this lot of mods on an Easter run to south of France. I considered chipping it, but Kevin was cautious so I'll come back to that after France.

Re: UK: Tubi exhaust/AP Racing brakes

Hi Alan,

Congrats on the mods!

I've recently used Birds (they fitted my ACS DFC Suspension) and a few other bits, very happy with the results, as the DFC was for a LHD M5, a few hiccups with the kit itself, but install was excellent.

Will hopefully get my new clutch installed by them, once I get it.

I'd like to get a ecu remap done, not sure about the Superchips though.

Think I may have seen your car there (black m5) at one point.. not many there, but lovely to see a fellow M5

Also checkout the UK M5 owners board
quite afew UK M5's on there..

Cheers

Tin

Re: UK: Tubi exhaust/AP Racing brakes

Sounds nice Alan. I have been resisting the mod bug for two and a half years but I think I'll have to upgrade the exhaust once she's back from the body shop. I've heard very good things about Birds too.

All the best

Re: UK: Tubi exhaust/AP Racing brakes

Echo all the sentiments about Birds - I, like Ashok, decided to go down the Milltek route rather than Tubi, not least because it's a fair bit cheaper!! You're right about the AP Racing six pots being a tight squeeze under the OEM wheels - solution? 19inch Supperleggera III Forged. it was an expensive visit to Birds early this week.........
