4/19 M5DE and sightseeing suggestions for afterwards?

My wife and I are really looking forward to the M5DE. From previous threads, I have an idea what to expect. We are waiting for the info package that should be here very soon. There was a previous thread on who is coming from the board. Maybe we should do a new count now that the event is coming up soon.

We are flying in from LA and are thinking about spending a few days (Wed - Sat) after the event to see that part of the country. We will be driving so any suggestions from board members on where to go and what to see?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Bear35;
In the M5 DE you'll get to see the Biltmore estate in Asheville but if you have extra days, there is a lot to see in and around that area. The great roads to drive are the Blue Ridge Parkway and route 64. South west of Asheville, route 64 passes numerous waterfalls, some right along side the road.

Clark - will send you an email and look forward to your recommendations.

El Mono - my wife plans to participate fully in all the activities. She drives faster than me in the beast.

Richard - Thanks for the tips.

Anyone know of a car rental company in the area that rents out fun to drive cars?

Re: 4/19 M5DE and sightseeing suggestions for afterwards?

Maybe you all are aware of this already, but one of our board members, willwin2day (Donnie) is a driving instructor for the M5DE in South Carolina. He lives in Ashville (at least the last time I heard) and is a very nice guy on top of that. Maybe you want to try PMing him to let him know you are coming and to see if he has any ideas for you.

You all enjoy yourselves! I wish I were able to go back there again.

Re: 4/19 M5DE and sightseeing suggestions for afterwards?

My wife and I will be driving in from NJ , via Charleston SC (attending the Family Circle Cup Tennis Tournment ther previous week). Have received the "paperwork" from the Performance Center so am looking forward to attending. Since my wife won't ride in my M5 with me driving (doesn't like the way I drive it), she hasn't decided if she will participate in the one day of course driving.
