Need Help with DIY Inspection 1 on my beast..please help

I am about to do my inspection 1 (I have my own shop) and needed some info. I was digging in my Owners man. and nowhere did i find out how many quarts of oil need to be added when the crank case if empty? could someone please inform me? Also..where exactly are the microfilters at? i saw that this needed to be done at the time of inspection 1. Any help would be much appreciated and thanks for reading.

In addition. I would like some access to the Inspection 1 and 2 checklists. Or some feedback from those of you who do your own inspections.

Along with the owners manual is a maintainence manual. That should describe everything. If you're missing it, then go to owner's circle on bmwusa.com. You may need to register to access.

Here's a site that lists Inspection I and II items. I don't know how up-to-date or accurate it is, or whether there are M5-specific things that are missing, but this should be a pretty good guide.

The microfilters are under the hood, just in front of the windshield. There are two of them. One each under those big rectangular boxes.

As I recall, you need 7 qts. of oil with filter change. Stop at 6 and check before adding the last quart. Be sure to perform check according to the instructions (run engine, wait 1 min., etc.). You probably know this already, but pre-fill the oil filter canister with some oil before tightening down the cover so the engine isn't as starved on initial startup from the oil change.

thanks bro. I appreciate your helpfulness. I actually have the maintenance book with me...just needed the amount of oil to be added to the vehicle. I get my parts at "my cost" which includes a significant discount. I'm also assuming that i have to replace the brake pads in the front as well as the back. Im guessing that im only going to spend somewhere between 100-130 bucks total for my inspection 1. And the dealer wants close to 600 bucks.
"no thanks"

You may or may not need new brake pads, but if you do, I highly recommend Axxis Deluxe Pluses. They stop as good or better than stock, and put out a LOT LESS dust. Work out a deal with Dave Z.
