for the people who had some supersprint headers installed, did your tech have to pull the trans or no? Mine are getting installed this weekend(finally) and im just giving my tech some heads up.

No, they didn't have to remove either the tranny or engine.

Go to the bookstore and pick up the latest European Car mag. with the M3 on the cover. It has a header install process for the E39 M5. Ok article.

The SS headers have 4 springs that hold the headers in place. My tech said they are a pain in the ***** to get them on! That's about all he said to me about the install!

Do you happen to know WHICH MONTH ISSUE that is?

The latest issue I have with my subscription is April 2004, Vol.35, Issue #4.

It has 4 Porsche's on the cover ... The Lead article is "Clash of the Titans"

There is indeed an article in the new "European Car" about the SuperSprint header install on the M5, but it did not give specific instructions. It more or less talked about power gains and impressions (over 25+ rwhp increase and deeper tone). Good article, but it does not porvide specific directions for install.

no the tranny on mine wasn't pulled. They did have to raise the motor to extract the old exhaust manifolds. As I recall it was 8-10 hours of labor and .... since I didn't change the cats they had to fabricate pieces to connect the headers to the old cats. That might be visible in a picture or two -- just follow the link in my sig file.
