Angry Sunroof Glass Breakage

Has anyone had problems with or heard of problems with M5s, 5ers, or any BMW for that matter having the sunroof glass shatter spontaneously? I had it happen to me yesterday! The dealer is trying HARD to get out of paying for it. They claim that a little spot about the size of a ball-point pen caused the whole thing to shatter. The glass in the sunroof was completely intact right after it happened and the glass was "pooching" upward like pressure from inside the car caused it to break. I don't buy it the "rock theory" and the fact that I was going 30mph, getting on the interstate, NO cars around me, and nothing above me (bridge, etc.), I want to know how it happened? Did the rock fairy drop an invisible rock from the sky? I doubt it...I have a serious fight on my hands. Mind you this is the same dealership that wouldn't pay for the cupholder that broke after 6 months!! My poor M5...

Re: Sunroof Glass Breakage

You have got to be kidding me.....they would not cover the cheapest cup holders in the history of the automobile under warranty!!!! When i bought my first 540 sport the sales rep told me "hey, these things break all the time so when they do just bring it in and we'll replace it even if its out of warranty"

I would look for a new dealer and call BMWNA to lodge a complaint about a crappy dealership. That is disgusting.
