Attention Bay Area - New Tires - Great Install

I want to share my new tire install experience with those that can make it to the Bay Area, Northern California.

I needed tires, and was directed to Roger Kraus Racing in Castro Valley.

I priced all sorts of tires through them:
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Michelin Pilot Sport
Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position
Kumho Ecsta MX

Over the phone, Roger Kraus recommended Toyo Proxes T1-S - they were also the lowest overall price.

Two days later, the order arrived, and I went to deliver my beast for some new hoofs.

I arrived. The shop was impressive - tires galore, including custom grooving.

I needed to go to work and leave my beast - no problem, I was provided a loaner at no cost!

When I was discussing the details of the install with the tire installer, he showed me the tires - I loved the tread pattern, the tread depth and the side wall extension that helps prevent wheel rash. (Review to follow after I put some miles on them).

Next, the installer smiled asked me if I wanted my tires "shaved" so that I would have the maximum tire performance immediately - no break in needed! I begrudgingly declined so that I would maximize tread wear. I was very impressed that they would offer such a service.

It gets better - the owner's son, who does all of the alignments, asked me how I wanted my beast aligned. I was puzzled, thinking that an alignment was an alignment. Not so. He offered various alignment schemes for different types of driving, and I settled on "agressive street driving alignment." (I was told that people from out of state bring their cars there just to get alignments).

Four hours later, my beast was wearing new shoes, and I was off and running with a big smile.

Great Experience!

Great Experience!
Thanks for the review! It is easy to find a place that sucks. It is very hard to find a great service location. I would consider driving way over there next time I need tire work. Cheers!
