Malibu to Santa Barbara Drive 3/21

Hey Guys,

It's been a while since we've had a drive, so I wanted to invite you guys on behalf of the 993 Rennlisters. We are doing a canyon run through Malibu and some highway driving, with more backroads through Fillmore, Santa Paula and Ojai. We will end up in Santa Barbara and have a BBQ lunch at Cold Spring Tavern. The drive will be held on Sunday, March 21st.

The drive will be around 3 hours and 15 minutes. Great roads, great people, and a lot of fun.

We will be meeting at the Vons at the intersection of Sunset Blvd. and Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades (across the street from Gladstone's 4 Fish) at 7:00am. We will be leaving the meeting spot at 7:30am.

Let me know if you're interested. 14 people already confirmed.

Re: Malibu to Santa Barbara Drive 3/21

I am very interested and look forward to introducing my M5 to its peers.

Cold Springs is a great ending point too. There will be lots of Harleys up there on a Sunday, and a live band, and they will be serving some of the best tri-tip sandwichs around.

Looking forward to it.

Hamann7- How is the GT2 working for you, and are you selling your M5, I remember you mentioning something about swapping it for a Cayenne Turbo?

Re: Malibu to Santa Barbara Drive 3/21

The GT2 is THE best car I've ever driven or owned, hands down. The way it handles blows my mind away.

I think I'll keep the M5 for a bit now that they have 100K mi. maintenance. To me, the cost of ownership is so low, I might as well slum with it.

I may still buy a Cayenne Turbo this year, but still mulling over it. It also depends if my sister wants to drive it, as I really don't need 2 4-doors.

Re: Malibu to Santa Barbara Drive 3/21

Just a reminder that the drive is this Sunday. The turnout looks really good.

Dave (C4M5) are you still coming?

Hamann:

We would like to join you guys but can we meet you somewhere along PCH, say around Pepperdine or Kanan? We will be driving from Westlake and getting to the meeting point by 7:30 am is a bit early for us.

BTW, if you were at the last drive in Feb, I think we were the car right behind you!

I think I remember you guys... mine is the Carbon black with 19" gold center wheels and DTM exhaust tips. You were the couple, right? I'm glad you have decided to join my "other" group of friends this Sunday, the Rennlisters (P-Car crew). I think you will really enjoy this trip!

There is a second meeting point in Moorpark which will work out better for you:

Take the CA-23 NORTH exit towards FILLMORE - go 8.1 mi from the 101
Take the NEW L.A. AVE/CA-118 WEST/CA-23 NORTH exit - go 0.3 mi
Turn on NEW LOS ANGELES AVE - go 0.8 mi
Continue on E LOS ANGELES AVE - go 0.4 mi
Continue on W LOS ANGELES AVE - go < 0.1 mi
Arrive at 1 W LOS ANGELES AVE, MOORPARK

Head West on New LA Ave (still the 118, but now a surface street) for about 1.5 miles to Moorpark Road (which is also the 23, but now a surface street). The North/West corner of that intersection has a "Grinder" coffee shop. The meeting time in the parking lot is around 8:30 and you will see P-cars there. The FRS radio channel is Channel 1. You can also get there early for a nice breakfast.

See you on Sunday!
