Re: Nav Display choice???

Hi Jeff:

I use the split screen because you really need the map as well as the direction indicator when driving in the UK, especially London.

Hi Ashok!
I tend to agree. But even in split screen (which I use as well) you have a choice of pointing north or travel direction...

Re: Nav Map Display choice???

I use the split screen too. I have it in travel direction for the smaller radius displays. It then sitches to pointing North for the larger radius displays- and thats how I would have set it anyway.

I use pointing north 95% of the time. I do this because it scrolls smoother, the map just continually moves opposed to how it is when travel direction.

I do use travel direction when i am out of town and am driving in thier downtown areas.

Re: Nav Map Display choice???

I had been using split but i think i like the full screen better now, cuz I can't make out most of the roads anyway in split screen...if it was more detailed I'd keep the map.

Re: Nav Map Display choice???

Travel direction. Carry over from being a Boy Scout. They always taught you to orient the map in the direction of travel. Harder to get lost that way. I also use the split screen.

"Is it the sounds that make a BMW a BMW? A BMW is designed to be heard, felt, experienced. So our engines sing. Our steering talks back. And we insist on offering manual transmissions in nearly all our models for drivers who crave them. The result is an almost telepathic oneness with the car. Just as surely as you can hear a BMW, a BMW hears you."

Re: Nav Map Display choice???

I prefer to have the NAV set to travel direction as it allows me to better relate to the map/street layout. When I first got the car, I exclusively used the single screen display buy now I find my self using the split display more often.

Re: Nav Map Display choice???

Always split screen - rarely have a need for a bigger map and it takes too long to switch. It should be an option within the actual navigation menu to quickyl switch from one to the other depending on need.
