Check engine light will not go away
Has anyone here experienced this after installing any of the following:

1. Exhaust
2. Intake
3. Velocity stacks

My check engine light came on shortly after the v stacks were in place. The techs dont know that they are in there, but cannot figure out what the problem is.

Any insight appreciated.

Sorry Bigtime:

Mass Air Flow Sensors. If you are using a new, free-flow air filter it may be getting oil on the MAFS causing the fault. I hope it's that simple.

I don't know what fault code shows up for MAFS - never had it come up.

This matches the experience of some others on the Board, if I recall correctly. First BMW replaced the catalysts w/o fixing the problem, then the MAF sensors which cleared up the problem - and made more power. You might find something with a search on MAF.

An actual fault code would help.
It is hard to guess.
could be a leak at the intake plenum or, or ,or.
Ask your service what the fault codes are...
