Post ESS Supercharger?

Hi,
has anyone placed an order for the ESS Supercharger kit for the M5 yet? If so, how much did you pay for it and which system did you buy (PD or VX)
Regards,
Terence

What exactly is this kit? Is it to get more power? I'm searching already for a while for an power upgrade, but all tuners I contacted had already killed at minimum one M5 engine when they tried to charge it with an compressor or turbo. Now I find someone who completely change the engine and get at the end 500hp with 700nm torque out. But the downside of this excellent work is the price of 35.000 USD.

600+ HP? That would be pretty incredible. I read all of the assurances that the stock engine isn't in any danger, but I would like to hear some other users experiences before I take on such an install.

yes.. I emailed them back in February, and they told me that the VX kit should be ready by summer. Below is the quote from them in the email:
"The new VX system which is the most advanced and efficient system in the world today is designed and produced by us in cooperation with Autorotor in Sweden (the manufacturer of Whipple). The system is a complete new intake manifold with integrated supercharger and liquid cooled intercooler. It is invisible once installed (hides under top Mpower cover). This system provides 6,5PSI of boost from as early as 1500RPM. New HP is close to 670."
I'm curious if anyone has put one of their systems in their car and any feedback about their products. Also, since they offer some custom superchargers for the M3 and other cars with 9psi of boost, I won't be suprised if the engine is up to it, they can put in 9psi and extract 700HP+.

I'm really interested to get in contact with someone who has at least this supercharger installed on his/her E39 M5 for a minimum of 10.000 miles. It helps nothing if you get in contact with people who have installed it on an 528-540i because these engines can live with the charging without problems but, as I stated above already, I got in contact with seven different tuners which are quite knowledged about BMW and all of them killed at minimum one M5 engine during chrging tests. Most of them won't develop this option now any further. I found only one who'll be able to garanty for his charged engine and these guys do change nearly the whole engine and this cost's a lot. Other options will be to optimise the air input and exaust tracks. I know one who'll get 450hp out of the M5 with this tuning without touching the engine itself. So if anybody exists who has this kit installed for a while on his M5 please contact me.

Only problem with more than 6-7 PSI on the M5 is that the compression ratio is already too high. If you can lower the compression ratio you can raise the boost.

ESS did say that with other cars, they need to change the head gasket to a custom made one to lower the compression ratio. I'm suprised that other tuners are not developing superchargers for the M5 anymore. I thought Dinan was still working on one and G-Power is coming out with a program for a kompressor kit.
Holger, which tuners did you contact? I just want to know so that I can save some time to avoid contacting the ones that aren't making a kit anymore.
Thanks!
Terence
