I am looking forward to seeing your insight on the M5 on the messageboard.
Dear Friend,

thanks for your very nice note. Looking forward to comparing all the cars. I drove the M5 many times. I drive it like as if I was born in it, and I always had it. I feel very at home on M5 and M3. From my past experience i can tell you that I love the seating position, driving feel, amazing gear box (only the Maranello box is better, but the M5 box is smoother than the f40 box, which is more race car like). The only thing i am not comfortable with is the throttle by wire feel. Very weird. I think my Maranello has it too, but it does not feel that way. I have to check that. Will let you know once i get it.

I am concerned about brake and clutch weakness, about the M5. What is your advice?

Once I get the car, will let you know right away. The Maranello by the way is a car that surpassed my expectations, coming from my F40.

I love driving any great car. For example, I love driving my little 84 Carrera. It is pretty fast too. The same is true for my european E 36 M3. I has one of the most amazing engines.

Matt:

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions. I am glad to see you are happy with all your cars. As far as the M5 clutch and brakes goes... you need to be very gentle with the clutch. Always get off the throttle before shifting(almost delay the shift), but other then that there is not much to worry about. The clutch is fine if you can operate a manual decently. I have had no problems at all with my clutch in heel and toe or other downshiting manuevers. The brakes in the car are good for normal driving but if you are planning on tracking the car, I would highly reccommend an aftermarket brake kit such as Brembo or StopTech to avoid fade after consecutive high speed braking manuevers. Hope this helps.

Where is your M5?

m5 is at my mothers in Rowayton CT. There is an EMRA track event in March at Lime Rock. I may take the m5 or more likely the rx7 (if it is not sold), althought it is during the week it should be a good time.

Hey how's it going?

This car simply rocks! It takes me more than 1 month to find this car (Red/Coupe/New/6-Speed) because 95% of the 360 are F1 shift and I really do NOT need another AUTOMATIC car. It's all worth it paying $35,000 over MSRP.

Please check back my site for more updates.
