Average Miles for a tank of gas?

I'm curious what the average amount of miles you guys get on a tank of gas. City/Hwy driving.

Here's mine-

City-340 miles (mixed city w/ freeway, my everyday driving routine)
Hwy- 450 miles (cruising at 85 on trips)

Dam!! I never get more than 290-300 to a full tank. You must be shifting at 1500 rpm for each gear!

The Sunoco gas gard gets used frequently, that's all I can tell you. If I'm not putting gas in the beast, I'm not hav'in fun.

Terk.

Re: Average Miles for a tank of gas?

I tried really hard to get over 23 mpg. I lasted about 20 miles and then reverted back to my usual 15mpg.

No, usually shift around 3-4k rpms. I drive quite spiritedly and even kick the rear end out several times on a tank. The only thing that might be different is I always use 93 octane from Exxon/Mobile.

Re: Average Miles for a tank of gas?

I almost always range between 290-330 miles per tank in the M5. Most of my driving is back roads and some highway bursts. Has anyone else noticed how fast the fuel guage drops once you get below half a tank? It drops like a rock. I will get 200 miles on my first half of a tank, then only get 100 on the second half. M5 phil has the same problem in his M5 as well.

Interesting that your fuel guage shows up exactly like mine. I usually get about 275 to 320 miles on a tankfull of our environmentally friendly, oxygenated, California 91 octane turpentine that is sold here under the label of gas.

Re: Average Miles for a tank of gas?

My lifetime average is 17.1

I usually get between 290 and 310 miles per tank. Having said that, it should be noted that my daily drive has lots of traffic, and I normally get around 15-16mpg. If I'm driving the open road (even driving hard) I get better milage.

T.C. Mine gauge drops like a rock below 1/2 as well. I have had to "hunt" for the closest Chevron station a couple of times...
