OEM M5 suspensions, will it fit other E39s? - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)

Hi,

Now that I have the Ground Control coil overs on, I have a 60# box of OEM M5 suspensions sitting in my garage and the Mrs. is not happy.

Thus a few questions:

Will the M5 suspension fit other 5 series cars?
Is that considered an up-grade to other 5 series suspensions?
Besides e-Bay, any suggestions on how to sell my lot?
Approximately how much can I expect for the whole set?

They have roughly 48k miles on them.

You could certainly sell the swaybars. I've read posts on the roadfly e39 board that M5 springs end up making a 540 with a higher ride height than the stock 540 sport springs. You could probably make an off road capable 528 with them!

the whole thing will work on other 5's. I know someone that one time sold his m5 with a 528 suspension on it...because when he ripped out the suspension he had in it..he didnt have the oem one to stick back in

ETK indicates that E39 M5 and 1999 and later 540i sport cars share certain spring part#'s.

For this reason, a fairly loaded 540iA will benefit from M5 springs. Your springs are not an upgrade for a 540i sport.

Higher than expected ride height can occur when installing loaded M5 springs on a lighter, base '97-'98 540i.

Used Boge struts are probably more trouble than they're worth to install. I think you'd be doing well to get $100 for springs and $150 for the swaybar pair. The struts will be tough to sell.
