Additional details on the M5/DINAN Group Buy event........

pertaining to the Dinan 3.45 rear diff.
I recieved some message askng a variety of questions and it appears as though there's a bit of confusion over this group buy. I wrote to Dinan, they responded back to me with this letter, which I've posted for all to see. Hopefully this will make things clear and all the Gb guys will now understand the way the Gb event will work.

START>>>>>
Robert,

Sorry for what appears to be some confusion. It's my job to communicate, and I've apparently fallen a bit short.

Here's the deal:

1. The new Dinan 3.45 Differential will be priced at $2499.00 (vs. the current retail price of $2999).

2. The $2499.00 price does NOT include the actual installation (labor charges) of the differential into the car. This would be up to the individuals as to whether or not they want to install it themselves or have their local Authorized Dealer do the job. Installation of the differential is published at 62 labor units (or about 6.2 hours), the actual cost of which would be dependent on the dealer's labor rate. Long story short, installation charges are seperate from the program we have put together. Our discussions and ultimate "deal" were based upon the purchase of the differential only.

3. There is an $1800 refundable core deposit required when the differential is supplied. Assuming the members either bring in their original differential as a core when the diff is purchased, or have it installed by the dealer, the core charge would not apply as the core will have been supplied as part of the original transaction. If the differential is purchased over the counter and the original (core) differential is not supplied at that time, the $1800 refundable deposit would apply and of course returned to the customer once the core is received by the dealer from whom the diff was purchased

3. Eligible M5 Group members will receive a Rebate Certificate which will entitle them to a $500 rebate, directly from Dinan. They will complete the rebate certificate and send along a copy of the dealer's retail invoice, we will then process the rebate and issue a check in the amount of $500.

4. Members are completely free to "negotiate" whatever they can with the dealer in terms of the price of the differential, as well as installation charges, just as with any other transaction. The purchase is completely independent of the rebate; you'll get the $500 regardless of what you actually pay the dealer for the diff and/or installation.

5. I have attached a sample copy of the rebate certificate for you and the members reference. I will be mailing these directly to the members at the addresses supplied in your list. Each of you will have the certificate in your posession well in advance of the availability of the differentials, which I would expect to begin shipping in about 2 weeks.

It's just that simple. As always, feel free to contact me if any part of this special program is unclear at this point. Just like you, I too want the i's dotted and t's crossed. The best surprise is NO surprise in my book!

Have a great weekend Robert.
END>>>>>

I do not know if a person can join at this point in time, as a new group buy customer. The window of opportunity has been closed on this for some time, since I submitted all of the guys info, who DID get in touch with me and supplied their personal info. to me, to have forwarded to the Dinan corporation. I will however ask if new guys can join or if the doors are truly closed, since this was setup as a special limited time deal. When I get the answer to this question, I'll post the reply.
Here is a sample copy of the rebate certificate Dinan has forwarded to me.

regarding Dinan's pricing old versus new..........

The previous or original price of the 3.45 rear diff. was $3000.00 (prior to this group buy, and prior to Dinan making their own ring & pinions) Since Dinan is now making their own ring & pinion, this allowed Dinan to reduce the cost of the rear diff. by $500.00, lowering the cost to $2500.00 (typical customer now saves $500.00)
The group buy guys get this savings and in addition get the $500.00 rebate from Dinan, so the bottom line is the group buy guys wind up saving $1000.00 due to the group buy event. Thats nice!!!!!!
