This board has been an incredible help to me in learning about, purchasing, and now maintaining my M5 (Purchased about 4 weeks ago... has been quite a treat so far). Seems like everything one could ever want to know is archived on the board here somewhere... I'd still be a total amateur with this car without it. With the board's help, I already:
Figured out how to talk to the dealer to get my flaking aluminum trim replaced under warranty (BMW of Manhattan replaced the parts I requested and even some I didn't - no questions asked - new trim looks perfect!)
Diagnosed a problem with periodic jerky acceleration (MAF sensors needed replacing - luckily I've got another month on warranty)
Found a great shop to get the car detailed and some leather dye work done - Technik1 in NYC- they did a beautiful job, brought out the color and gloss of the paint more than I could have imagined possible - highly recommended if you live in NY.
And in general, learned a hell of a lot about an incredible - and incredibly complicated - piece of engineering.
Took some pix yesterday (nearly froze my a** off in the process)... thought I would share with you all.
Lovely pics, same colour as mine,it's called Silverstone Blue over here.I have had my car for 8 months now and I think I need my MAFS replacing. The car is a ***** to pull away from the lights smoothly. It's either pull away very slowly or smoke the tyres!! There dosn't seem to be a middle option. Most frustrating.
I,m going to the dealer this week to try and sort it.
Wow! Fantastic shots my friend. All of them turned out great, but I think Im going to have to choose the second one from the top as my personal favorite. That New York skyline is always a site to see.

For anybody who declares soup cans to be works of art or suggests closing a whole department store
and keeping it as a museum, considering a car as a rolling work of art is more typical than unusual.
Welcome and congratulations on the M5. Consider yourself one of the lucky few to own an M5 with the best color available (I am a bit biased). I love the background in the pictures, you should consider a second profession as a photographer.
