Angry Clutch return spring just fell out....

I recently got my car back after parting for 3 weeks because of a wonderful subframe incident. Last night I decided, for the first time, to do a hard acceleration from above 5mph-90mph. On the 1-2 upshit the clutch pedal froze in the up position after my shift into second-it wouldn't go down to enter third. I hit it again and it acted fine, but from that point on the clutch acted like it was slippping...taking a long time to engage between shifts, and acting sloppy/not returning quickly.
Well, low and behold, as I was getting in the good 'ol m5 today, I looked in my drivers side footwell and saw what is apparently my clutch return spring. W-T-F? Do pieces of my car just fall out at will? It's a spring 1" in diameter approx 4" long, very stout looking. It had a plastic piece in it with a hole in the end that apparently previously had held it in place.
Any ideas as to why this would just fall out into my footwell? Has this happened to anyone else? I'm getting so sick of the problems with this car. I was told its a 1 hr repair...as long as it wasn't caused to fall because of some other failure (God forbid).

Re: Clutch return spring just fell out....

That is odd...
I had clutch work on my E39 528, but never had anything like that happen. Did it go back to the dealer? I will not speculate on a problem, but I hope the dealer gets rid of the problem when it goes back. Quite odd indeed...
