It was easier to say hi back when I was driving my E39, as it seemed like I was a fellow BMW driver and not just a car lover. But I am also known to have chased down a few E39 M5's when they first came out, but hey, being over zealous just means I like your car!

It seems as the M5 ages on and the true M lovers are sticking with their wonderful cars that the smiles, headnods, and waves are a little bit better recieved.

i wave. i usually get a wave back. sometimes ill chase em down just to let me Kelleners say hi too.

Will always try to acknowledge by a wave or hand signal. Not a lot of M cars in my area but seem to get waves or thumbs up from other drivers. I always try to give them a courteous reply or signal.

I'm big on the head nod but i have limo tint...have not seen another M5 owner standing still yet.

I like the head nod as well. But I will always return a wave.

I have had a few waves rejected by M3's though. Must be a little V-8 envy. M5's are pretty scarce here so the M3's run wild.

So I guess thats why I prefer the nod.
